Mango Tree Church, Kigali
Below is a transcript of a recent email from the Mango Tree Church in Kanombe. This is the church that Mark Redwine and Hazel Bech "inadvertently" planted in Kigali, Rwanda last September when 23 building workers, with dubious reputations in the locality, attended their HIV/AIDS awareness seminar.

It was one of those days when God took over and did what he wanted (regardless of human plans).

A church was born, land with a single mango tree on it was given by the local diocese and the rest is history. The church meets under the mango tree, rain or shine. See what has been going on!

Christian Love and Greetings from Kigali!

"How are you over there? We believe that you are all doing well as it is our every day prayer.

Concerning the Mango Tree Church of Kanombe, we are progressing very well. We by now have 150 members, excluding the children under ten years. Every Sunday there come at least two new members and those who get saved are between 5-10 each Sunday! We also have four choirs and two groups of Bible study. If you come on Friday and Saturday, you will be able to meet those different groups.

So there is hope of a PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH at Kanombe.

As far as the church building is concerned, we didn't go much further due to the heavy rain of April and May. We expect to have a very busy time of building activities starting in June. We have got almost all the signatures needed to have building permission from the government. Obviously there are not many people who are helping us financially, but we have many promises when we restart the activities. Otherwise the Church is a living Church where many people will soon come to learn! They are all passing their greetings to you and long to see you back home."
